Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman

Paleosuchus palpebrosus

IMG 6680

You can spot our two Cuvier’s dwarf caiman in the Amazonica Glasshouse, often relaxing in the water or basking on the banks in their enclosure. These small crocodilians may be little compared to their relatives, but they have incredibly strong jaws for their size and can make short work of crustaceans, fish, and other prey. Keep a sharp eye — they’re experts at staying still and blending into their surroundings!
